We were recently reminded how much we love puppies. My nephew and his girlfriend came over to our place with their little pup, Lola. We had some dinner and hung out and instantly fell in love with this sweet little bundle of fun. As they were leaving, we tried to steal her but they put up a good fight and got her back, lol. Now we have been wondering if we should get one of these little pups. She’s a dachshund. Do you guys think that’s a good breed to have in the city?
Daschunds are good, but can be aggressive if not socialized properly. Don’t get a chihuahua!!!
If you want a good small city dog, consider a Boston Terrier, they have tonnes of personality and are very good dogs. Any questions let me know, I’m a vet tech! 🙂

You should get a Cav! (cavalier king charles spaniel) like the on from Lady and the Tramp. I swear they are the cutest, cleanest, sweetest, friendliest dongs ever. They don’t know anger, no bad behavior. Its not in their DNA. We’ve got two, me and my bf. One big girl for 11 years and one lil girl for 2.5 years!

I have 2 long hair red dachshunds and they’re sweet as can be. Very smart, very sweet, I got both of mine as puppies and had to train them not to bark. They’ve never met a person that they didn’t love instantly. Not the best guard dogs but they are great cuddlers.

Hey men! We have 6 Weiner Dogs. 3 males and 3 girls. We love them dearly. They are a devoted breed to their loving owners. They make great lap dogs and snuggle bugs too! I have ours trained for chasing bunnies, squirrels, and foxes. We live in the country where they can run free when I take them for walks. They are a hunting hound breed and will hunt/chase animals when ever they get the chance.
I would not recomend this breed in a city environment where the dog barking would be a problem. They are yippers at strange noises and people. I can send you some pictures of ours if you send me an e-mail address.

My ex had a doxie and I had a dal. That doxie was a whole lot of dog in a really small package; kept up with my dal. They were the best of pals … even after we parted. Doxies have a heart to match; a whole lot of heart in a small package too. Personally, I’m a big dog kinda guy, but the doxie is the only small/toy on my short list.

I have two Dachshunds in Boston and they are excellent city dogs. The long-haired are considered the lovers; the short-haired are considered the protectors and the wire-haireds are the clowns. Another good thing about these dogs is that they do not shed like most dogs since they have hair instead of fur. They have great personalities and are good with people and other dogs. I got my standard black and tan longhair from a breeder in NH and my miniature wirehair from a breeder in NY. There are also many excellent dog walking and pet sitting professionals who can help you out when you are traveling or are not around to take the dog for a walk. Good luck with your decision!

Get a dog mini schnauzers are good city breeds the really dont shed like a dog and are hypo allergenic tough little dogs…I had one for 16 years and she was the best.. she passed Fathers Day 2010 but I wouldnt have changed the last 16 years for nothing plus she knew when to bug my tricks to get them to go home (when I was done of course) GO FOR IT!!!!!!

We had a Dachsund, looks the same as that one for 18 years….she was loving and affectionate, the best dog ever…she recently passed, it was the saddest day ever, I say go for it!

hey im a big fan. i would recommend black lab because they are so adorable and very smart. great with family and younger kids in such also great house watchers too always full of energy too, and ive come to see they love to cuddle .

Hey guys! Big fan! I would highly recommend adopting a greyhound. Even though they are big, they are great for city living because they sleep most of the day and love to curl up in tight spaces. They are very clean and don’t have that wet dog smell when playing in the rain.

I’ve heard that French Bulldogs are really great for apartment/city living because they don’t need a lot of outside playtime/exercise (breathing issues due to their pushed in noses).
But Dachshunds would be cute….

My friend has 2. The only thing bad I have to say about them (Debbie Downer looking in the camera) is that later in life they might have back problems. Hers have. Then again y’all might be lucky and your doggy won’t have that ailment. Good luck. Oh and by the way (looking in the camera again) hers were barkers too. lol

They’re great for the city but they have a ton of health problems. Also some tend to bark at strangers…which could be a problem for you boys 😉

I’ve grown up with them and they are the most loving, most forgiving, and most faithful of all the ‘low on stature’ dogs..Take her for a walk and watch her little legs run to keep up with you. Kisses? Forever. I suspect she has already wormed her way to resting between you two at night, or better yet, between your legs. Smart puppy! Love her and she’ll love you more!
